SF Climate Week 2024

Awesome to be a speaker and moderate panels at SF Climate Week 2024 in April to talk about climate tech, ocean solutions, the circular economy, how film and art can help us tell better climate stories, biodiversity, and optimism about the near future.

I moderated a panel on reinventing recycling — and we screened documentary filmmaker Jay Windland’s new documentary called “Reinventing Reycling,” which teaches about our broken waste system and how so much plastic currently ends up in the oceans. Innovators like Bob Powell (Brightmark) and Dr. Katrina Knauer at the Department of Energy are concepting of new ways that we could move toward a truly circular economy and reinvent plastic as we know it.

Scott Farling of the Ocean Plastics Recovery Project spoke about his team’s efforts to retrieve plastic out of the ocean every day — before they break down into tiny microplastics, which are much more difficult to remove from the water.
